Alternating between passages described as “Suave and subtle” and “With playful energy,” Los Tres Danzantes (The Three Dancers) weaves an ever-present groove from the musical gestures of three players, each with two non-pitched sounds, a keyboard percussion instrument, and a single desk bell.
The choreography of each performer and interplay of their independent but interlocking voices require deft timing, coordination, and implement control. Moving through multiple time signatures, discreet stylistic shifts, and a full dynamic range, the trio must work to ensure the primacy of the dance is maintained.
This work for three percussionists is the perfect balance of sound and movement that will be exhilarating for performers and enchanting for audiences.
