This rudimental snare drum duet, written in 6/8 and 4/4 meters, incorporates many of the musical and technical techniques required in contemporary rudimental snare drum performance. Using flams, diddles, backsticking, stick clicks, cheeses, flam-drags, and paradiddles, as well as rapid unison figures and metric modulation, this duet is aexciting and challenging piece for both performers. Pecking Order would be a great addition to a percussion ensemble concert or recital, or can simply be used for technique development for intermediate to advanced rudimental students.
